HALEKULANI
The name Halekūlani is a combination of Hawaiian words (hale + kū + lani) meaning "House Befitting Heaven" The Halekulani cocktail is a classic Hawaiian drink, created in the 1930s at the Halekulani Hotel's House Without a Key lounge in Waikiki. Unlike many tiki cocktails, which are rum-based, the Halekulani features bourbon as its base spirit. It's known for its refreshing, citrus-forward flavor profile, with a subtle sweetness derived from demerara syrup and a hint of grenadine.
Ingredients
- 1,5 oz. - 2 oz. (45-60 ml) Bourbon or (Rye) Whiskey
- 1/2 oz. (15 ml) Sugar Syrup
- 1/2 oz. (15 ml) Lemon juice
- 1/2 oz. (15 ml) Orange juice
- 1/2 oz. (15 ml) Pineapple juice
- 1 barspoon (~5 ml) Grenadine Syrup
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters
Method
- Officially surfed "up" but can be served with crushed ice as a true Tiki drink.
Add ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or an rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
